A downloadable game

A souls like game with a singular encounter. Many have tried but few have succeeded in defeating the mighty Ursus.


This project was designed in collaboration with Vanessa Chen and Kevin Van. 

Grave Tales of the Ursus has you fight Ursus, the impeccably strong boss with crazy moves and mechanics. 

The highlight of this project is the behaviour tree mechanism which controls the movement of Ursus. As part of this project, we decided to implement the behaviour tree scratch instead of using Unreal 4's built in implementation, to fully understand the nitty-gritty of how this simple Artificial intelligence system works.

This was the first time that I created a concrete game using UE4. Furthermore, it is the first time I dealt with particle systems, animations, invincibility frames and map design. It's really quite spectacular what graphical power UE4 is able to output so easily. 

Although the UI elements, sound effects and rendering could use some work, the primary focus of this game was learning how behaviour trees work, and how to implement them to effectively control a character in the game.
